All Rise...

...from the Blogspot grave.

Tried to host a G+ Hangout to get some people modelling/painting all in a room together but it didn't work.  Streamed for awhile via Livestream.  Got an XV8 + drones mostly together, a random Fire Warrior painted, and while I had the Knarloc Green out for the FW's optics I got the optics on a random Marker Drone and XV8 done too.

Hail, hail, the gang's all here.

Sloppy.  I'm too impatient for the multiple thin coats white takes to look smooth/good.

Optics and the XV8's Multi-Tracker.  Or Targeting Array?
Note Blu-Tack holding it on; my prior attempt to magnetize didn't go well.

XV8 and Gun Drones assembled today.  His pose is lame.

More Blood Angels

A Razorback.  The most compelling option is a lascannon + twin-linked plasma gun, but there are no bits for that.  So instead it's got a twin-linked lascannon and a twin-linked...I dunno, Storm Bolter or something, I'm not sure.

As you can see I didn't get the Imperial eagle on right.  That sucker bonded instantly as soon as it touched the hull; when I tried to straighten it up I actually snapped the whole thing in two at the root of the left (from our perspective) wing.  Oops.

There's Blood On My Battlesuit

Here's my nascent Blood Angels HQ (Librarian, generally w/ Power Sword and Infernus Pistol even though that's a plasma pistol) flanked by two blurry Sanguinary Priests as Elite choices.

I haven't actually glued them together yet; their bits and bodyparts are just held on by blue tack at the moment.  That's not going to work for actual play, though, as the blue tack doesn't grip metal/metal or metal/plastic nearly as well as it does plastic/plastic.  Part of me would like to magnetize them, as for sure I'll be giving them jump packs on occasion, but I don't want to mess around with drilling metal.

Manufacturing Terrain

Another building.  A manufactorum this time.

That smokestack was a bitch, and still isn't on quite straight.  I had to snag one of Calvin's sillybands (those are his pirate sunglasses there behind my yardwork ones (which picked up a few new scars today)) in order to strap it in place for half an hour.  Part of me thinks it's pretty much the same damn thing as the Basilica Administratum I assembled a few weeks ago (that's 3-stories + roof, this is 2 + roof) so why didn't I do something different, but the rest of me thinks fuck that I've only got so much time and getting fancy with buildings is low on my preferred uses of it.

I did manage to get some of the accoutrements (lights, roof-level railing things) on, though, unlike the Administratum.

Home Away From Home

God damn, this thing was a bitch to put together, even without any of the detailing on it yet.  I did an extremely messy job, but I'm hoping against hope that Mike won't wuss out with this whole, "I'm sick, waaaa," thing he's been pulling for the past two days and will come over on Thursday for a game, so I rushed to get it together tonight.

The Kindness of Strangers

This post is epic, featuring an epic amount of win.  You have been warned.  Also, I'll only use "epic" one more time (erm...after that one) and I promise it won't be in conjunction with "win."  A few months ago Head Rush posted that he had a bunch of old 40k stuff stored at his parents' house that he hadn't touched in years and offered it up.  I pounced, and he said that the next time he visited them he'd box it up and ship it my way.  That time was Friday the 6th, which of course was the day before we left for vacation.  So now I present to you the kindness of strangers...who wouldn't even allow me to pay for shipping!

An epic box.

With a kind note!

A box within a box?!

That's a lot of swag.  How did he know that I've been trying to play FFVII (for the first time) on my PS3 since, oh, about this time last year?  Excuses...dwindling...

Holy shit.

Wretched gretchin.

Orks is best at fightin', killin', and dyin'!  Uh...waitaminute...

Boss, I've lost me arm!!

A Falcon!  I think?  And 2 Swooping Hawks, one slightly painted.

Uh oh, Dark Eldar.  Mike, wipe your chin.

Who the fuck needs fake metal zombies when you've got the real thing!  Some sort of undead WFB guys?

Trees!  Now I can stop stealing my 3-year-old's trees from his dinosaur playset.

Some skull totem doohickeys.

What the fuck, horse?

Cheatsheets!  Outdated ones, but cool nonetheless.

Blood Bowl?  One of the shield-marker things (2x3 in the top-right) has a spiked football on the reverse side.

Battlefleet Gothic!

Terrain tidbits.  Very handy.

Game aids and a random SM attack bike.

Oh wait, I forgot the 2 Ork vehicles.  A War Trukk and an Orky-ized attack bike?

The Emperor protects.  I said, out loud and to myself, "Fucking sweet, a Terminator!" when I dug him up.  I think the dude with the mohawk is a Space Wolf character, but I have no clue who.

Better shot of all the SMs.  You can't really see it, but the left-most guy in the middle squad has a ridiculously huge missile launcher of some sort, I love it.

Hello, my pretties.

Hmmm...could convert those guys to Blood Ravens (w00 DoW!) without much work.

Some random SMs.  See how much larger the ML is on the left-hand guy vs. the right?

The back-right guy is holding two chainsword handles.  I found one of the blades, but not the other.  There are a couple power fists hidden away there in the back.

The paint jobs on theses guys is pretty damn nice.

No base for the Land Speeder, but I've got so many clear Tau bases I can wrangle something.

Attack bike!  Rawr.

There's Sand in My Suit

Guys on the left were from Sun, guys on the right are from yesterday (Tues).  Hoping I can get the last 2 (I use 6-Tau FW teams) basecoated sometime this week, and then I'll just have the white topcoats to go.
